Creating Contemporary Paintings for Landscapes, Portraits & Still Life
Hi, I'm Laura Dunmow a representational artist
with a contemporary style.
Originally trained as a graphic designer I took a leap of faith and
returned back to my childhood passion for drawing and painting.
Finding the right course to home my skills were the key to motivate me
on this artistic journey.
My inspiration is truly immersed in the classical style of oil painting. It centres around the aesthetic values of colour and unity of space, where the use of light and interpreted brush strokes to create my distinctive, contemporary style. I choose oils as my favoured medium. My portrait and figurative works are heavily influenced by Sargent’s work and his remarkable technical ability to draw with his brush, while the landscapes are inspired by Turner’s wonderful interplay between light and colour.
I continue to attend various courses* that strengthen my focus on observation, drawing and application technics, which all help to enhance
my visual representations. I take great enjoyment in evolving these across various styles, continuing to strive for perfection,- always with the desire
to experiment and produce work that creates diverse opportunities
for the next, new painting. '
"Keeping my work exciting, continuing to drive the passion.'
